Another Day · Koh Tsit Kang is located on the busiest street in Nanfang’ao, between two Mazu temples. Formerly known as The New Days, and before that Ri-Xin Hotel, the space has passed through different eras and owners. Each has left its own character, witnessing the constant rhythm of fishing boats coming and going. What has never changed is the air, always filled with the scent of the sea.
I stayed here for nearly a month during the design process. After going through many dead ends, I eventually chose this unidentified creature as the logo—it was the most instinctive image in my earliest sketches.
Situated on Taiwan’s eastern edge, almost feeling like the end of the world, and guided by a new owner deeply involved in local revitalization, life here gave rise to a strong sense of independence. That is why I chose it: a three-legged little monster of Nanfang’ao, echoing the shape of the harbor and embodying the mix of people, nature, and fresh ocean flavors found here.
